OTHER INFORMATION

Introducing.....The Vessels

  • Poseidon
Sharing the passion for snorkelling and scuba diving with over 25 years of experience ensures that Poseidon visits only the best possible sites, as reef quality can vary greatly. The first Poseidon commenced operation in Port Douglas in 1994 taking 30 passengers cruising daily to the Great Barrier Reef. Seeing the demand for a faster, more comfortable vessel, Poseidon II was built in 1997 and increased the carrying capacity to 48 passengers. In April 2001, Poseidon III was launched replacing Poseidon II. This ultra modern vessel features many improvements and refinements. Limited passenger numbers ensures personal comfort and individual attention.

Poseidon has access to the best reef locations with over 45 sites to choose from. Three spectacular sites are visited each day. The Agincourt Ribbon Reefs, located on the very outer edge of the reef, are renowned as the place to go for crystal clear water, spectacular coral gardens and a huge variety of marine life.
  • Shaolin
Enjoy the classic ambience of this truly unique vessel. An authentic Chinese junk sailing to the Great Barrier Reef from Port Douglas Australia. Commissioned by an admiral and built from teak in Hong Kong, she cruised the South China Sea for 16 years, sailing around the world twice before Port Douglas became her home.

Shaolin has been operating for over 21 years and is the longest running charter boat in ‘Port’, laced with history and charm.  After a refit and a change of purpose, the popular Low Isles experience became a “must do”.

Shaolin is beautifully maintained and provides the perfect platform to enjoy a day of activity and relaxation with spacious comfortable areas for all to enjoy.
A unique and classic experience with Shaolin.......you won't be able to resist her charm!
  • Sailaway
Invites you to enjoy "a day to remember" with a reef and island sail for snorkelling and exploring Low Isles, an unspoilt coral cay on Australia's Great Barrier Reef. With only 1 of 4 reef tour licenses to moor at Low Isles there is limited access.
With small numbers of guests (max 33 guests) & personal attention from our friendly & helpful crew, Sailaway Port Douglas ensures your enjoyment on your snorkelling and reef tour to Low Isles.
*Snorkelling within a protected cove
* Swim with green turtles in their natural habitat at Low Isles
* View spectacular coral gardens
* Explore Low Isles' nature & history
* Take a trip on the glass bottom boat
* Enjoy a superb buffet lunch

The Agincourt Ribbon Reef are long narrow reefs located along the very Outer Edge of the Great Barrier Reef, flushed out at every tide by clear oceanic water welling up from the Coral Sea Trench nearby.  Coral thrives in this clear water, creating spectacular gardens and a huge variety of marine life.  These pristine reefs are opposite the Daintree Rainforest, well North of any agricultural run-off from cultivated areas, and provide the best possible snorkelling and diving opportunities.  All our sites have been selected for both the shallower coral gardens favoured by snorkellers, and the adjacent deeper walls and drop-offs preferred by scuba divers.

Amendments
Please check the terms of each vessel to see whether amendment fees apply. Please also note that for some vessels an amendment is treated as a new booking and the rate current at the time the amendment is made to recalculate the entire booking amount (not just the days changed). In the case of boat rental/yacht charter, if the hire or number of days is increased, an additional deposit may be required, while reduction in rental periods or price may reduce the total, but the deposit amount will remain unchanged.

Vessel Capacity and fitness to charter (for Bareboats only)
Under no circumstances are you permitted to carry more passengers than the vessel you charter is legally registered to carry, and if you do your insurance may be invalidated. The number of passengers allowed is indicated next to each vessel on this website. It is your responsibility to choose a journey that is within your capabilities.
